It s an interesting intelligent film and i don t see any reason why someone wouldn t enjoy at least something about it.

Parents need to know that dead poets society has very uplifting messages especially for teens about seizing the day and embracing poetry as a way toward thinking for yourself and positive self expression. It is not a film that it is cool to admit loving. The first time i saw the dead poets society was the day after robin williams died. Dead poets society is one such film.

Dead poet s society isn t either. It was at the urging of someone who said carpe diem which i later realized was a reference to the film. Granted there are lots of movies i have seen and there s even more that i haven t.

As much as it may continue to make us cry dead poets society is an absolute must watch as well as an absolute must re watch. It makes you rethink your whole life making you regret some of your decisions and happy over some of them. New england the late 1950s.

Parents should consider whether their children are ready to deal with the depiction of suicide and what leads up to it for the particular character. I would rate it pg 13. Some of them are lucky enough to have some of those.

That being said i went into dead poets society pretty excited to watch what s considered a classic and few people speak negatively of. It s worth seeing to at least be able to discuss it with another person. It is untypical idealistic and hopeful not qualities one necessarily associates with film snobs but what it lacks in critical kudos it has recouped in audience appreciation.
